Upon earning a degree in civil engineering from Eskisehir Osmangazi University in Eskisehir, Turkey, Aytac Nural began his career as a civil engineer for Ahmet Ozkan Insaat in Denizli, Turkey. He helped Ozkan Insaat execute two large development projects in Turkey. He later relocated to New York City area to pursue a career in the food service industry. Since arriving in New York, Aytac Nural has gained more than 12 years of experience in food service, including positions at prominent New York City restaurants Rain, Bella Luna, and La Grenouille. In 2007, with the guidance of Bella Luna owner Turgut Balikci, he and business partner Zafer Sevimcok founded the first location of Ayza Wine & Chocolate Bar in Midtown Manhattan.
With the success of Ayza, Aytac Nural opened a West Village location in 2011 and has helped define the establishment’s unique position among New York City wine bars, emphasizing the matching of fine wines from around the world with a variety of delectable confections. As co-owner and manager of Ayza, he handles activities ranging from marketing to overseeing the menu for a restaurant that has achieved over 50,000 likes on Facebook.
When he is not busy supervising the operations of Ayza, Aytac Nural enjoys running in long-distance events held around New York City. He has previously run in the ING New York City Marathon, the Brooklyn Half Marathon, and multiple New York Road Runners’ events.
